Claire Barry first went viral singing Vienna by Billy Joel at a cultural talent show in Costa Rica. The audio engineer initially played the wrong song, but the unique start of the performance and her powerfully emotive voice earned her over 2 million views. Since then, she has performed at various venues in the Raleigh/Durham area. Her songs have been played on the radio and placed on Spotify editorial playlists such as “+852 Rising” and “Hot New Songs China”.
Growing up in Hong Kong and New York with roots in California and Shanghai, Claire began learning piano and singing. At a young age, she sang a cappella and listened to EDM and rock, which have inspired her compositions with harmonies, layers, and powerful guitar lines. She writes songs from dreamy pop to angry rock, but her common denominator as an artist is described as “capturing very raw human emotion, whether that’s whimsy, anger, or playfulness."
You can explore Claire’s evolving discography on all streaming platforms. Her song “Glamorous” was released July 18th.
